A Brief History of the Tesla Powerwall

Tesla introduced the Powerwall 1 in Australia in 2015, and from the outset, SolarHub was determined to offer this innovative energy solution to our Canberra customers. The Powerwall 1 was iconic for bringing home energy storage to the mainstream, enabling homeowners to store solar energy and use it during peak times, therefore reducing dependence on the grid and cutting energy costs.

The Powerwall 2 was, and still is, an awesome product because it offered double the energy storage capacity of its predecessor, making it capable of powering an entire home for a day. Its sleek design and integrated inverter simplified installation and usage, while its advanced software allowed easy integration to existing solar inverters.

The Powerwall 2 has been the leading residential battery in Australia since its debut, and at SolarHub, we are proud to have installed over 1,200 of these batteries for residents in Canberra, regional NSW, and the NSW South Coast. We vouch for the excellence of this battery, our fleet is quite large, but we have very little maintenance to do on it, a testament to the reliability of this product.

Since 2021, SolarHub has been a Powerwall Premium Installer, selected for our exceptional installation quality, deep product knowledge, and distinguished customer experience. Our long-standing relationship with Tesla and alignment with their mission underscore our commitment to providing top-tier energy solutions.

We’re now excited about the  arrival of the Tesla Powerwall 3, a product that once again promises to revolutionize how people achieve energy independence.

Advantages of the New Tesla Powerwall 3 Battery Solution

The Tesla Powerwall 3 combines a battery and solar inverter into a single unit, making it an efficient and cost-effective battery solution.

It offers significantly increased power output, stable and safe LFP chemistry, and easy storage expansion, meeting high energy demands and enhancing home energy management.

All-in-One Solution

Integrated Solar Inverter: The Powerwall 3 combines the battery and solar inverter into one sleek unit on your wall, simplifying installation for those looking for a streamlined setup.

Cost-Competitive: Despite the added inverter, the Tesla Powerwall 3 is a competitively priced choice for a combined battery and inverter solution.

More Power

Increased Output: The continuous output has doubled, from 5kW in the Powerwall 2 to 10kW in the Powerwall 3. This allows it to fully power energy-demanding appliances like large air conditioners and EV chargers, making it ideal for Canberra households with higher energy needs.

LFP Chemistry

Stable and Long-Lasting: The Powerwall 3 uses LFP chemistry, offering more stability and longevity compared to the NMC chemistry used in the Powerwall 2. This ensures that homeowners can rely on a durable and efficient energy storage solution.

Enhanced Safety: LFP chemistry is safer, providing peace of mind for homeowners in the ACT.

Easier and More Affordable Storage Expansion

Seamless Expansion: It is expected that Tesla will release expansion units for the Powerwall 3. The battery-only expansion unit will allow to increase storage capacity without needing additional inverters or power controllers, likely offering a low-cost energy expansion when required.
