What is the Smart Distributed Batteries Project?
The Smart Distributed Batteries Project offers a $4,950 discount on a Tesla Powerwall 2 as part of the first NSW Government-funded Virtual Power Plant (VPP). This initiative is supported by a $5.4 million grant to develop a 6MW VPP and encourages battery installation by offering discounts for joining the VPP.
As of March 2024, we are about halfway through the development of the VPP with 2.814MW installed and connected, and we are gearing up for project completion by the end of 2025. If you are considering purchasing a high-quality battery in the next few years, now is the perfect time to secure an excellent price.
What is a VPP?
A VPP is a network of distributed energy resources, such as solar panels and battery storage systems installed in homes and businesses, that are collectively managed by a central operator. This system allows these individual units to act as a single power plant, quickly providing renewable energy to the grid when demand is high.
How does the VPP impact your battery and power bills?
SolarHub selected ActewAGL as their VPP operator for this offer, through a tailored energy plan: the Solar Partner Plus Plan.
By subscribing to the VPP through the ActewAGL Solar Partner Plus Plan, you access a great offer that waives daily electricity supply charges and guarantees a 17c FIT for the first 10kWh exported daily, for 12 months.
ActewAGL’s VPP interacts minimally with your battery, ensuring it never discharges it below 20%. Furthermore, The VPP’s impact on your electricity bill is capped at a maximum of $50 over 12 months**. Considering the $4,950 discount and the benefits of the Solar Partner Plus Plan, joining the VPP is a financially savvy choice.
