What is the Smart Distributed Batteries Project?
The Smart Distributed Batteries Project offers a $4,950 discount on a Tesla Powerwall 2 as part of the first NSW Government-funded Virtual Power Plant (VPP). This initiative is supported by a $5.4 million grant to develop a 6MW VPP and encourages battery installation by offering discounts for joining the VPP.
As of January 2025, we are now two-thirds of the way through the development of the VPP, with 4.267 MW installed and connected, and we are gearing up for project completion by mid 2025. If you are considering purchasing a high-quality battery in the next few years, now is the perfect time to secure an excellent price.

What is a VPP?
A VPP is a network of distributed energy resources, such as solar panels and battery storage systems installed in homes and businesses, that are collectively managed by a central operator. This system allows these individual units to act as a single power plant, quickly providing renewable energy to the grid when demand is high.

Why a Home Solar Battery Makes Sense in NSW
A home solar battery in South Coast and Southern Tablelands Region is a smart investment that lets you store excess solar power generated during the day for use whenever you need it.
Energy Freedom
Store solar power and use it anytime, reducing reliance on the grid.
Lower Your Bills
Cut costs by using stored energy during peak hours.
Blackout Protection
Keep vital essentials running during power outages.
