Fronius Inverters Wi-Fi Reconnect
Fronius Primo/Symo Series
1. Prepare your setup
Make sure your home WiFi network is working properly — check you can connect to it using your phone or tablet.
Have a tablet or laptop handy; it’s easier to complete the setup on a larger screen.
If you’ve recently changed internet provider, modem/router, WiFi name (SSID), or password, you’ll need to reconnect your inverter using the updated details.
2. Activate the inverter’s WiFi access point
On the inverter display, press the Back or Menu button to open the Setup menu.
Go to Setup → Wi-Fi Access Point → Activate / Enable.
The inverter will now broadcast a WiFi network name starting with FRONIUS_240.XXXXXX.
The default WiFi password is usually 12345678, unless your inverter label shows a different one or your installer has provided you with a unique password.
3. Connect your device to the inverter’s hotspot
On your phone, tablet, or laptop, open your WiFi settings and connect to the network that starts with FRONIUS_240.
Enter the password 12345678 (or the unique password).
4. Access the inverter’s web interface
Once connected to the inverter’s hotspot, open a web browser such as Chrome.
Type 192.168.250.181 into the address bar and press Enter.
When the Fronius web interface opens, log in as Customer (or Installer if applicable).
If you don’t know your password, contact your solar installer for assistance.
5. Configure your home WiFi network in the inverter
In the web interface, go to Settings → Network (or Communication → Network, depending on your model).
At the bottom of the Network Settings Menu you will need to select the new Network that you wish to connect to.
Once your Network has been selected, press Set.
Enter your WiFi password and click Save or Apply.
Confirm when prompted that the new settings should be applied (tick or checkmark symbol).
6. Verify the connection
On the inverter display, go to Setup → Network → Status.
Check that the inverter has a valid IP address — if it shows 0.0.0.0, it’s not connected yet.
You can also confirm connection by logging into your Fronius Solar.web monitoring portal and checking that live data is updating.
7. Troubleshooting tips
If the signal at your inverter is weak, move your WiFi router closer or install a WiFi extender.
Double-check that the WiFi password was entered correctly, including capital letters and symbols.
If the inverter doesn’t connect, repeat the process from Step 2 and try again.
Persistent issues can often be solved by updating the inverter firmware or contacting your installer or Fronius Support.

Fronius GEN24 and GEN24 Plus Series
1. Check your WiFi signal
Go near your inverter and use your phone to check if your home WiFi network is visible.
If you cannot see your WiFi network near the inverter, the signal is too weak — install a WiFi extender or move the router closer.
Your inverter will only connect if it can detect your WiFi network at this location.
2. Try a power cycle first
If you haven’t changed internet providers, try power cycling the inverter before reprogramming the WiFi.
Turn AC off using the main switch or solar inverter breaker.
Turn DC off using the isolator next to the inverter.
Wait for the unit to fully power down, then switch DC back on, followed by AC.
Once the inverter restarts, check if you get a solid blue light — this means it has successfully reconnected to WiFi.
If not, continue with the next steps to manually reconnect.
3. Activate the inverter’s WiFi access point
On the inverter, press and hold the middle button until the WiFi light above the icon begins flashing.
This activates the inverter’s internal WiFi hotspot.
4. Connect your phone or tablet to the inverter's hotspot
On your device, open WiFi settings and look for a network starting with FRONIUS_240.XXXXXX.
Tap to connect.
The default password is 12345678.
Wait until your phone shows a tick or “connected” status before continuing.
5. Access the inverter’s web interface
Open a web browser (Chrome or Safari recommended).
In the address bar, type 192.168.250.181 and press Enter.
The inverter’s local interface will load, showing system bubbles and live data.
6. Log in to communication settings
Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines / “hamburger” icon) in the top right corner.
Go to Communication.
Choose Customer as the login role.
Enter your customer password. Your installer will have provided you with this password after installation.
7. Configure your home WiFi network
After logging in, open the menu again and select Network.
Stay connected to the Fronius WiFi network on your phone.
Select Wi-Fi from the middle section of the page.
Your available home WiFi networks will appear in a list.
Tap your home WiFi name, enter your WiFi password, and save the settings.
Once connected, the inverter will switch over to your home WiFi network.
8. Confirm connection
Wait a few moments and check the inverter’s indicator light:
- Solid blue light = successfully connected to WiFi.
- Flashing light = still trying to connect.
You can also verify connection by checking that your system data appears on Fronius Solar.web.
9. Troubleshooting tips
If no WiFi signal is detected, use a WiFi extender or Ethernet connection option.
Ensure your WiFi password is correct — it’s case-sensitive.
If connection fails, restart the inverter and repeat the steps from Step 3.
For ongoing issues, contact your installer or Fronius Support.
