On August 31st 2021, SolarHub contributed to the revitalisation of the Broulee Surf Club by installing 32x LG NeON 2 350W solar panels and 1x SolarEdge 3ph 10kW inverter on the Club.

For Gary Pettigrove, President of the Broulee Surf Club, this solar system will free up some money that the Club can reinvest in their core mission of reducing coastal drownings. “We can now use that money for buying more lifesaving equipment and for training lifesavers. It’s much more useful for us to use our money this way than to spend it on utilities, so the donation is very useful for us”.

Through Federal and State funding for bushfire resilience and recovery, the Club received a grant to revitalise their premises and expand its support capacity during crisis. Thousands of people took refuge in Life Saving Clubs across the Coast during the devastating bushfire season of 2020. The Broulee Surf Club ongoing renovation will make it better protected against bushfires and more prepared to shelter residents if needed.

For Luke Dalla, Regional Manager of the South Coast for SolarHub, it was important to make this project happen. “Broulee is home for a few SolarHub employees and we were all excited to give back to the community and to be part of this. It’s nice for our apprentices and electricians to install on a place that they visit regularly, and to continue to work with quality, local businesses like Hotondo Homes, Broulee Electrical and P&L Louttit Total Construction services”.

Benn Masters, CEO of SolarHub, stated that giving a free system to the Club was not a difficult decision. “Part of the SolarHub culture is to support sport associations and local clubs through sponsorships and donations, and we see this contribution to the Broulee Surf Club as a continuation of this effort to invest in the community.”

Finally, Gary encourages local businesses to support Life Saving Clubs operations. “Life Saving Clubs protect the public, and by making the beaches safer, they attract more people in the area, and that means more business opportunities here. I want to thank Hotondo Homes, SolarHub, P&L Louttit Total Construction Services and Broulee Electrical for supporting the Broulee Surf Club and making our life easier and more sustainable.”
